5th grade Excel “Mass Elite Mania Tournament

SA 5th Excel geared up Saturday morning for the Mass Elite Hoopster Mania Tournament with pure excitement. Coming off a great week of practice, they went into Game 1 with a full head of steam against Mass Elite. They took a quick 14-2 lead and never looked back. With a great defensive game from Camden Rainford (Randolph), and Taj Horowitz (Brookline). Every single player on the team scored a basket this game, a true team win.

The next battle was against a more aggressive Boston Warriors team. The game started slow, with no one scoring a lot in the first 8 minutes. ASA 5th Excel then went on a huge run, and took a 12-point halftime lead. The entire team was able to push the tempo in 2nd half to take a decisive victory from the Warriors. In their 3rd game of the weekend 5th Excel took care of Worcester United 41-13. Congrats on a great weekend and tangible signs of improvement.

Player of the Weekend

Taj Horowitz (Brookline) – Taj had an awesome weekend for ASA 5th Excel. Each games leading scorer, and defensive stalwart. He guarded the opposing teams’ best player all 3 games, and was able to be very efficient from the free throw line, something he has worked hard to improve on all season. Taj is aggressive on the fast break, and manages to make a fair amount of and-1 layups on his way to the FT line. Taj is a very hard worker and it’s no surprise on this nomination for player of the week.
