6th grade Select Co-Champs: ZG’s “Shot for Life”
6th grade ASA Select Co-Champs: ZG’s “Shot for Life”. Coach Spinner decided to get everyone a bit more playing this past weekend and split his team into two. The result – Co-Champs. Teams both won their pools and met in bracket play to share the 6th grade D1 Championship.

With an impressive 4-0 record coach Gallagher’s crew won the Division and pool play.
7th grade Select win ZG’s “Shot for life”
ASA Select 7th grade Spinner had a great weekend going 3-0 in pool play to advance to bracket play. Once in bracket play they beat the DC Blue Devils and prevailed over the Middlesex Magic in double OT. It was a great weekend for this group and proved they are one of the top teams in Massachusetts.

ASA Select 10th grade win ZG’s Fall Finale D1 Division. A great finish to the Fall AAU season ASA 10th grade Select go 4-0 to win the Fall Finale. Over the last two weekends this group is 7-1 only losing to BABC in bracket play. A true team effort with multiple players contributing each and every game.

ASA Varsity Brickley won their 2nd tournament of the Fall going 3-0 in Mass Premiers Fall wrap-up. This group had a great Fall season and were looking forward to seeing them all Spring 2019.

Justice Grant (ZG Battle for the Belt MVP)
Justice “Solent Assassin” Grant had a monster weekend at ZG Battle for the Belt! Against the big name teams like Expressions he scored 15 points (11 in the 2nd half) to help ASA Select 2027 cruise to a 30 point win. All weekend long Justice got buckets and he doesn’t say much but just keeps doing it over and over again. He helped lead ASA Select 2027 to the Belt as they won every game by 20+ points! He is the youngest player on this team and just turned 9 years old. We can’t wait to see what this young phenom can do in the near future.
Patrick Otey Battle of the Belt
Patrick Otey has been in the ASA program since he was in 2nd grade. He has proven to be one of the most reliable players every song game. At ZG Battle for the Belt his ability to effect the game in every way was impressive. He guarded the other teams best player, was the leading scorer for the weekend and leading rebounder, to help ASA Select 2026 win the Belt in a dominating fashion!
Max Hall Class of 2021
Max Hall Class of 2021 had a great weekend. A true two way player with a very high motor, can shoot off the bounce or catch looking forward to watching his continued success.
Riya Thakore Class of 2020
Class of 2020 Priya Thakore had a phenomenal weekend, shooting lights out from the 3pt line, hitting jumpers off the dribble and putting constant pressure on the defense. Every game Priya is improving on the defensive end getting more deflections and being active. Highlight of weekend for Priya was hitting Five 3’s within flow of offense.
Liz Johnson Class of 2024
Class of 2024 Liz Johnson is making great strides in her game. She was our first recipient of the “best communicator” award at practice and played extremely well on both sides of the ball. She was constantly in the passing lanes on defense disrupting the opponents offense throughout the weekend. Were excited about the her growth and looking forward to her continued success spring 2019.
Ryan Hatem Class of 2022
Ryan Hatem – ASA Select Class of 2022 had a huge weekend helping his team advance into bracket play in this past weekends Zero Gravity Mass Madness. Ryan had was menace of defense, attacked the rim, and shot the 3-ball with consistency.
Ido Geffen
#8 Ido Geffen c/o 2025 had a monster weekend at ZG Mass Madness. He put up big numbers in the championship game to lead ASA Select to the victory. Tallying up 25 pts, 8 rebounds and 4 assists he had a complete game and locked down the opposing teams top wing. Ido can do it all, a scary talent and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this young star.
Class of 2018 Aref Elbeik continues career at Suffolk
Aref Elbeik Boston Latin School / ASA Hoops Class of 2018 will continue his playing career at Suffolk University. Aref had a terrific High School career at BLS and was a standout player for ASA Hoops. Looking forward to seeing his growth has a player and person at Suffolk.

Jayden Gibson Player of the Week
Jayden Gibson player of the week for ASA Select 4th. He led his team to a ZG NERR championship in a dominating fashion. The big man can do it all drive, shoot, rebound and defend. His finishing ability around the rim and ability have defenders bounce off is reminiscent of Charles Barkley! Can’t wait to watch with this young star grow.

Jackson Shaw #0 – 2024
Jackson Shaw #0 c/o 2024 had a big weekend leading ASA Select to the ZG D1 Beast of the East Championship. Jackson has always been a prolific scorer but his ability to create space and knockdown the long ball has elevated his game. He has become a premier rebounder and defender as well. Looking forward to watching this player continue to grow and develop his game.
Travis Finfrock 2020
Travis Finfrock 2020 6’1- Finfrock had a monster Sunday with two straight games of 4 threes or more. His range goes well beyond the three-point line as well as knocking down clutch free throws late in games.
7th grade Select win ZG’s Beast of East
7th grade Select win ZG’s Beast of East going 4-0. In the final game ASA beats a combined North-Shore / MetroWest Bay Stat Jags team 46-44. Great job Coach Spinner
